All You Ever Do

all you ever do, they said, is sit with your nose in a book.

And I laughed.

Because darling, I said, how very wrong you are.

Today, I sat in my armchair

And battled a dragon atop a rocky mountain.

I had tea with the Mad Hatter

And I saved an entire kingdom with nothing but a sword and a spell.

I flew through the sky as though I had wings.

And took a swim on the riverbed with mermaids.

No you didn't, they said, you just read a book.

Yes,

I read a book.

And it was a wonderful adventure.

.

    1. You do NOT KNOW how much of a relief it is to hear that. I recently changed the COMPLETE layout and design of my blog, and was quite anxious about how it would be received. Your comment really made me smile, so thank you! x

  5. I adore this, people who don't read will never truly understand what it's like to escape to another world from the comfort of your duvet or armchair. It's the best feeling when you lose yourself in a book! Lovely post <3

    1. I know, right? People are always shouting at me to 'get my head out of the book'...but most of the time I can't hear them because I'm actually far, far away....it's amazing what a bit of pen and paper can create, isn't it?

  7. How Beautiful and so very true! Did you write it yourself? It's a perfect description of what it really means to simply "read a book" ^_^

    1. Yes, I did! And I'm so happy you liked it! I always think that when I'm sitting in my chair, reading, that although physically I'm at home I am (mentally) miles and miles away....
