A cold hand
grabs me by the throat
like Jack Frost's finger
dragging itself down my spine.
And I'm asking it to go
To leave me alone
To not do this,
Not today.
And the hand tightens
it's vice-like grip
And whispers in my ear;
 oh honey,
what makes you think
that you're

  1. I love these little short pieces that make you think and feel. I feel like it's general enough that a lot will be able to relate to this but that the specific meaning will be different for every person. And that is what I LOVE about poetry. For me this feels like I've just had a good day but my brain ruins it at the end by overthinking and second guessing everything good that happened and I just want to be like stop man can't we just have a good day?

Apologies for the long comment haha! Post more :)

    1. Don't apologise! I love seeing what people think of my writing, and your feedback is always welcome!

YES THANK YOU, I didn't know if everybody would get that this poem was supposed to mean different things to different people. Our own interpretation of it is personal and, of course, our own.

  2. I love the way you write poetry, it can be viewed in many different ways. To me, Jack Frost is depression. He's cold and dark, and always tries to ruins my day. He makes me feel like I'm not special, and that I'm just like everyone else. I love this poem. What does it mean to you?

    1. Thanks for your feedback, Catie, and for your kind words! As I said above, our interpretation of this is personal and completely our own, unique to everybody else.

What does it mean to me? Well....this poem is everything all at once. It's fear and hurt and dread and it can mean all sorts of things: the stone-cold fear before going to an audition, for example, or maybe even it can resonate with those days where you just want to be left alone. You know?

  3. Beautifully haunting <3 I love your writing, always.

  4. this is SO beautiful, you're an amazing writer <3

  5. Wow, reminds me of a ghostly haunting horror movie. I can see someone whispering that second half into someone's ear and scaring them mindless.

  6. Love this poem! The whole tone was cold "it's vice-like grip" well written, haunting almost!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier :)

    All the love xx

    1. Aw, thank you Hayley! I'm so happy that you liked it!

Your blog's great, by the way. I really enjoyed my little visit there :)
