They Took My Bible And This is What They Left Me With

It began with a book.

A sacred book.

One that many would worship,

One that many would question,

And one that many would hold forever in their hearts.

The people loved the book.

They sang their praises of it from the heavens,

declaring to the world that there was no other book that held such meaning,

such love,

such acceptance,

as this book.

It began with a book.

And slowly the words became muffled.

What once preached love now taught us to hate.

What once preached acceptance now taught ignorance.

What once had meaning had now been manipulated,

distorted,

until its very worth came into question.

It began with a book.

One that many paraphrased,

One that many twisted the words of until it suited their message.

It began with a book
.

But now it ends with us.

Above all, love each other deeply. Because love covers over a multitude of sins.

    1. Hello Jessica! I'm a big fan of your blog, so I'm really happy you visited my humble corner of the Internet :)

I feel like a lot of the passages and teachings in the Bible have been paraphrased and twisted to suit certain people's messages, and in the end we have a duty and a responsibility as human beings to look past the charade that is so often played before us and see the true message behind it all: that we have to love each other.

    1. Thanks Catie! It's okay to believe in different things - our beliefs are personal and completely our own, and nobody has the right to disregard anybody elses. Thanks for such a sweet comment!
